Israel to investigate shelling that killed 7 Gazans

JERUSALEM, June 9 (Reuters) Israeli military chief of staff ordered an investigation today into the deaths of seven Palestinians on a Gaza beach hit by what appeared to be artillery shells, an army spokesman said.

''We know it's not from the air force and not from the navy and we are checking if it was artillery (fire),'' said army spokesman Jacob Dallal. ''We also don't know for certainty if it was Israeli fire.'' REUTERS PR HT2200
