India provides NRs 7.1 mn for school in Nepal
Kathmandu, June 9: India has provided a grant assistance of about Nepali Rs 7.1 million for the construction of a school building and a compound wall for the Galaxy Secondary School in southern Nepal.
A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) among the Embassy of India, District Development Committee, Parsa, and Galaxy Secondary School, Adarsha Nagar, Birgunj was signed yesterday in this regard.
The project will be executed by the District Development Committee, Parsa, for which an Oversight Committee, comprising the Chairman of School Management Committee, District Education Officer and Engineer, DDC, Parsa, has been constituted to ensure proper utilisation of the grant.
The project would benefit about 250 economically underprivileged children of the school and add to the improvement of education facilities in Parsa district.
''It is part of the Indian Government's commitment to provide NRs 71,73,706 towards the economic cooperation with Nepal, under which 138 projects are being undertaken in 61 districts,'' said the Indian mission here.
