Fosroc Chemicals India to set up new plant in East India by 2007

New Delhi, June 9 (UNI) Fosroc Chemicals India Pvt Ltd, manufacturers of construction chemicals, today said it plans to set up a new plant in the Eastern part of the country by September this year.

''We have plans to set up a new plant in the Eastern part of the country and hope to start construction by September. The new plant will be fully operational by early next year,'' Fosroc Chemicals India Pvt Ltd MD R Shridar told reporters here.

Mr Shridar, however, refused to comment on the investment figures and the company's market share, but added that ''India is a top priority for the company which is fully focussed and committed on its growth in the country.'' The company started full-fledged production in its new unit in Rudrapur, last night.

''The new plant in Uttaranchal has already started production and has an installed production capacity of 30 million liquids, 20,000 tonnes of powder and 1.1 million litres of polymer,'' Mr Shridar said.

On the company's India plans, Fosroc International Chairman James Hay said, ''The Indian construction chemicals market is over 200 million dollars and has the potential to double to 400 million dollars in the future. Forsoc India is growing over 30 per cent every year and India is setting up a benchmark, with the company having a major chunk of the parent company's turnover.'' The company already has two other manufacturing units in Bangalore and Ankleshwar with full fledged offices in New Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai.

It has its R&D centre at Bangalore, which caters to both Indian and global requirements.

Fosroc India has over 200 products catering to different segments of the construction industry including concrete admixtures, industrial floorings, sealants and waterproofing. This is the company's first plant with Dr Hay as its Chairman after he bought the company from British Petroleum (BP) in 2002.

The company was set up in 1981 and is celebrating its silver jubilee this year.

Fosroc India is a wholly owned subsidary of Fosroc International, which is part of the 350 million dollar privately owned JMH Group.
