Congress charge of not discharging alliance duty wrong: Patil
Kolhapur, Jun 9 (UNI) Justifying his party's support to the industrialist Rahul Bajaj for the Rajya Sabha election, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister and Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) leader R R Patil today said that it was wrong for the Congress to charge his party of not discharging the alliance duty.
Talking to reporters here, he said that the party leaders had asked the Congress to give one seat either at the Rajya Sabha or the Legislative Council, but the latter refused to accept the proposal. Hence, it was improper to blame the NCP of not discharging the alliance duty.
Mr Bajaj's contribution in industrial sector in Maharashtra was immense and taking into consideration this, NCP has extended its support, he said.
To a poser, he said that the state police will carry out a detailed investigation into the killing of Kolhapur-based Irphan Attar, a militant who was recently killed in an encounter with Border Security Force (BSF) in Kashmir.
Mr Patil lauded the Maharashtra police for foiling the militants attack on Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) headquarters at Nagpur.
