Cong rubbishes Amar Singh's allegation
New Delhi, Jun 9 (UNI) The Congress today dismissed as baseless the allegation levelled by Samajwadi Party General Secretary Amar Singh against Congress President Sonia Gandhi and said it betrayed his nervousness.
"It is all indicative of nervousness,"Congress Spokesman Abhishek Singhvi told reporters here.
The way Mr Amar Singh performed antics at his press conference was a sheer entertainment for others. "At a time like this entertainment tax should be imposed,"he quipped.
"At the slightest commotion, Mr Amar Singh feels the Congress is there," Mr Singhvi said.
Mr Singhvi was commenting on Mr Amar Singh's reaction to the Supreme Court direction to UP Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav and his sons to file details of their income tax returns for the last ten years. Mr Amar Singh alleged at his press conference that UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi had a hand in the PIL that prompted the apex court to ask the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister to file his income tax details.
Asked about Uttar Pradesh BJP President Vinay Katiyar's offer to pay Rs one lakh to anyone killing a terrorist, Mr Singhvi said it was a"wild statement made without considering the consequences. This would to escalation of violence in a sensitive state like Uttar Pradesh,"he said, adding this was neither in the interest of the nation nor of the State. It was an attempt at sensationalising the matter, he said.
