'Rathotsavam' celebrated with pomp
Tirupati, Jun 9 : The car festival (Rathotsavam) of Sri Govindarajaswamy Temple was celebrated here with pomp and gaiety.
Organised as part of the 'Bhramotsavam,' the colorfully decorated wooden car carrying the idol of Sri Govindarajaswamy was pulled by a large number of devotees, police personnel and volunteers through the 'mada' streets.
'Kolattam,' 'Bhajans' and two caparisoned temple elephants added to the rich fare at the event.
The senior and junior jeers along with disciples had darsan of the Lord and led 'Vedaparayanam.' Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) Executive Officer A P V N Sarma and Joint Executive Officer Balaramaiah also participated.
The 'Chakrasnanam' (ritual bath) will take place on the ninth and concluding day of the Brahmotsavam tomorrow at the 'pushkarani' (temple tank).
