Bangalore Bio-2006 concludes; organisers term it a huge success
Bangalore, June 9 (UNI) Curtains came down on the three-day Bangalore Bio-2006, showcasing the achievements of the biotechnology sector in the country, here today, with Karnataka Vision Group on Biotechnology Chairperson and event Chief Organiser Dr Kiran Mazumdar-Shaw terming it a huge success.
Addressing newspersons here, she said the event proved to be a rewarding and satisfactory one, taking into consideration the increased international participation in the exhibitions, interactive sessions and one-to-one business meetings.
Dr Mazumdar-Shaw said the annual event, which got overwhelming response from all stakeholders of the biotechnology industry, both domestic and international, had become a visible brand in the region. It had provided an international platform to reflect on the global achievements witnessed in the sector and highlighted what was in store for the future.
The Biocon chief announced that the event's focus next year would be on 'Bio-employment', intended to highlight employment pportunities the BT sector had to offer. She reiterated that the BT sector in the country would create over one million jobs not necessarily for the scientist community only, but all the related stakeholders.
