Widow gets lifer for murdering baby out of wed-lock

Akola, June 8 (UNI) The sessions court at Khamgaon convicted and sentenced a widowed mother to life imprisonment for murdering her newly born infant delivered out of an illicit relationship.

Handing down the senctence yesterday the Additional Sessions Judge Mr Jagyasi sentenced Savita Shaligram Bharmbe (37) of Mawta village to two years jail under section 318 of IPC and fine of Rs 500 under section 201 of the IPC.

Earlier On June 23, 2001 the dead body of an infant was found in a well of the village. The post mortem report revealed that the death of the infant was due to strangulation.

The police had traced out the unknown mother who was identified as Savita Shaligram Bharmbe (37) and after her medical examination doctor had submitted the report that stated the widow had delivered the child.
