Two in fray for Rajya Sabha seat from J
Srinagar, Jun 8 (UNI) Two candidates Choudhary Mohammad Aslam of the Congress and Mohammad Yousuf Taing of the National Conference (NC) are in fray for the elections to the Rajya Sabha seat from Jammu and Kashmir.
According to Legislative Assembly Secretary Mohammad Iqbal Ganai, no candidate withdrew from the contest on the last day of withdrawal of nomination papers today. The election will be held on June 15.
The seat had fallen vacant due to the resignation of Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who contested and won the by-elections from Bhaderwah Assembly constituency on April 24.
Mr Aslam, Mr Taing and independent candidate Mohammad Hassan Parray had filed their nomination papers for the seat.
However, the papers of Mr Parray were rejected after scrutiny leaving Mr Aslam and Mr Taing in the field.
