Trainer MiG-29 crashes near Jamnagar coast, both pilots safe
New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) A trainer MiG-29 aircraft of the Indian Air Force today plunged some 30 Kms north of Jamnagar into the sea shortly after noon but both pilots ejected safely and were rescued.
IAF Spokesman Wing Commander S M Sharma here said the ill-fated aircraft -- from Bhuj Air Base -- was on a routine training flying mission when it plunged into the sea near Pirotan Island at 1210 hrs.
Both the pilots -- Wg Cdr Nautiyal and Sqn Ldr Mahal -- ejected safely over the sea and had been rescued.
The IAF Spokesman said no one was injured or killed as a result of the mishap.
Meanwhile, an inquiry had been ordered to investigate the cause of the accident.
