State women's commission seeks farmers status for women
Dehradun, June 8 (UNI) Uttaranchal state Women's Commission has recommended that women who are involved in agricultural activities be designated as farmers.
They have also asked for five years relaxation in government jobs.
The state Women's Commission chairman Santosh Chauhan said since women in Uttaranchal are involved in agricultural activities, the state government should give the women concerned the status of farmers and also include the wife's name in the records pertaining to the property or land.
She said women from remote areas have difficulties in acquiring required education on time and hence recommendation for the provision of age relaxation upto five years in state government job has been forwarded to the state government.
