SSN Institutions announces Rs 4 cr scholarships

Chennai, June 8 (UNI) The non-profit SSN Institutions today announced scholarships to the tune of Rs four crore for students seeking admission to under-graduate and PG engineering courses for the academic year 2006-07.

About 250 students will be offered scholarships which aims at encouraging meritorious and deserving students obtain the highest quality education, irrespective of economic barriers.

Talking to newspersons here, SSN Institutions President Kala Vijayakumar said the scholarships would encourage deserving students in need of economic support and realise their potential by having access to SSN education.

Ms Vijayakumar said the scholarships opened up opportunities for brilliant but economically less privileged students, especially from rural areas.

In addition to deserving students, scholarships were also provided to academically outstanding students to encourage excellence in education.

'WALK-IN-WALK-OUT' scholarship worth more than Rs 2.5 lakh for a meritorious student for entire four-year course, sponsored by the Institution was also included.

The scholarship offered a waiver of tuition fee, free hostel stay and boarding/grant towards living expenses and an allowance for books.
