Sena felicitates villagers for aiding police in nabbing terrorists

Aurangabad, Maharashtra, June 8 (UNI) The Shiv Sena today felicitated nine villagers of Ellora village for assisting the anti terrorist squad (ATS) of Mumbai police, for busting a terrorist module on May 9.

Party senior leader Subhash Desai felicitated nine villagers at a special function to mark the end of the week-long drive launched by the party in the district to create awareness among the people against terrorism.

The ATS of Mumbai Police, with the help of local police and villagers of Ellora village, had arrested three terrorists including an activist of the banned Students Islamic Movement of India (SIMI) and seized eleven AK-47 rifles, 30 kg of deadly RDX and 800 bullets from a vehicle parked in front of the Ghrushneshwar Temple, at Ellora on May 9.

The State government had already announced a cash prize of Rs two lakh to the Ellora Grampanchayat.

Addressing party workers and the villagers at the specially organised function held here today, Mr Desai expressed concern over the failure of the government in curbing rising terrorism in the state and urged the people to remain alert and gear themselves up to fight terrorism.

Shiv Sena MP Chandrakant Khaire, who had addressed a series of public meetings during the week-long drive in order to create awareness among the people about the terrorism, also spoke on the occasion.

Party's district in-charge Vishwanath Nerurkar was present on the occasion.

The week-long drive against terrorism by the party's local unit was a part of a programme to mark 21st anniversary of the party's city unit.
