Rahul taken for medical check up, says he is innocent

New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) Rahul Mahajan, son of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, was taken to Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital for medical examination before being taken to the Patiala House court as his two-day police custody ends today.

Delhi Police took him to RML at about 1030 hrs for routine checkup. He was there for a short while.

Responding to queries by mediapersons while being taken out of the government hospital, he said, ''I am innocent.'' He will later be taken to court, where the police will seek to extend his custody while his lawyers seek bail.

In another development today, on the 'instructions' of former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, BJP leaders Kalraj Mishra and Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi went to inquire about Rahul's health at the Tughlak Road Police Station.

BJP President Rajnath Singh had visited Rahul when he was at the ICU at Apollo Hospital.

Meanwhile, the National Human Rights Commission had taken congnizance of a complaint, dated June 6, alleging illegal detention of Anil Singh and eight others, working as house staff at 7 Safdarjung Road residence of late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan, and asked Delhi Police to submit a factual report on the matter today.
