PVR Cinemas gets operating license to strengthen Mumbai presence
Bangalore, June 8 (UNI) PVR Cinemas today announced that it has obtained operating license to strengthen its presence in Mumbai.
The license enabled PVR to open its latest property 'PVR Mulund' in Mumbai, taking its screen count to 68 nationwide, the largest in the country, a company release here said.
PVR Mulund, the largest multiplex in Mumbai with six screens and 1,815 seats, would be the company's second property in Mumbai. Two more multiplexes were slated to open in the city and the company aimed at having 250 cinema screens nationwide in a few years time.
PVR Limited Chairman and Managing Director Ajay Bijli said ''with leadership position in the nothern and southern markets of the country, PVR aims to tap the existing and emerging potential of the western region...The growth plans of the company are on track and the company has already signed up various multiplex projects in key destinations to take its screen count to over 250 in a few years time.'' PVR Limited had recently entered the capital market with its initial public offering to finance new cinema projects, expand film distribution business, technological upgradation and renovation of cinemas. The company proposed to expand its cinema footprint in Mumbai, Delhi, Indore, Gurgaon, Chennai, Ludhiana, Aurangabad and Latur.
