Ninth phase of Panchayat elections passes peacefully
Patna, Jun 8 (UNI) Barring minor incidents, the ninth phase of Panchayat elections in Bihar passed off peacefully today with an estimated 60 per cent voters turning out to exercise their franchise.
This phase covered 591 Gram Panchayats under 49 block areas in 25 districts of the state.
State Home Commissioner Afzal Amanullah told newspersons here that three people were injured in group clash when rival grops started pelting stones on each other at Meenapur village under Simri block in Buxar district.
He said altogether 909 people were arrested from different places of the state on charges of disturbing the poll process. He said that six firearms were recovered during the polling.
