Markets lose 260 points in the afternoon trade
Mumbai Jun 8: The Sensex lost 260 points in the intra-noon trading inspired by heavy selling led by FIIs.
Currently, market is trading at 9496.06 points touching a low of 9200 earlier in a volatile trade.
However, it is heartening to know that India is still the strongest emerging market globally backed by net FIIs purchase amounting to Rs 733 million, which is comparatively higher than other emerging markets.
Similarly, CNX Nifty was trading at 2762 points, which is down by 98 points or 3.44 per cent, from the previous close.
All the BSE indices were trading in the red, led by midcap and smallcap in the range of in the range of 1.5 to eight per cent mark.
Major gainers on the index were NTPC, Hindalco, Maruti Udyog Ltd, Hero Honda and ACC, all gained between 2.5 to 5 per cent.
Besides the losers on the index were - Reliance Energy, Tata Power, HDFC bank, HDFC, Bharti Televentures, Reliance Industries and Dr Reddy's Lab, all, down by 3.5 to eight per cent.
