Bhubaneswar, June 8 (UNI) Wonder Marathon kid Budhia Singh's coach Biranchi Das today pleaded for medical examination of the boy at the Army Sports Institute (ASI) in Pune to put an end to the ongoing controversy over his health and the ban on long distance running.

Mr Das, who met Orissa Women and Child development Minister Pramila Mallick along with the four-year-old kid, urged the Minister to make arrangement for medical check up of Budhia at the ASI.

This was for the first time that the boy and his coach appeared before the Minister who had taken strong exception of the marathon kid participating in long races, ignoring his health condition.

The coach and the minister are at loggerheads ever since Budhia entered into the Limca Book of Record on May 2 for his non stop run of 65 kms from Puri to Bhubaneswar.

In a letter to the Minister, Mr Das had described the medical report of Budhia, submitted by a team of doctors as directed by the Child Welfare Committee in the first week of May as ''superficial and vague'' and requested her to conduct another test at the ASI.

He said Budhia could be taken to ASI to undergo some other test as suggested by the team of doctors who had opined that he (the child) should not be made to run long distance run as he could become a subject of ''burnt out syndrome'', which might lead to cardiac complication and renal failure in future.
