Manipur govt to take action against 'plebiscite' supporters
Imphal, Jun 08 (UNI) The Manipur government will take action against the people, who are discussing the proposal of holding 'plebiscite,' to solve the insurgency problem in the state.
The United National Liberation Front (UNLF) had mooted the idea of holding 'plebiscite' to solve the protracted insurgency problems.
It also wanted to lay down arms to an UN Peace Keeping Force so that the plebiscite could be held smoothly.
For the last one year, the state local clubs and organisations had organised meetings to solve insurgency problems.
Officials said the state government was not in favour of holding meetings and central leaders declined the proposal.
Police said they have registered cases against individuals and organisations who were organising meetings to hold plebiscite in the state.
So far three persons has been detained in this connection, police added.
