Kumaraswamy asks Kannadigas in UAE to invest in K'taka

Bangalore, June 8 (UNI) Karnataka Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy today urged Kannadigas living in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to invest in various infrastructure projects coming up in the state.

Addressing a meeting of the Business and Professional Group at the UAE, the Chief Minister, who led a high-level delegation, said a comprehensive new industrial policy for 2006-11 would be framed soon focusing on infrastructure development and technology upgradation.

Special emphasis would be laid on agro food processing and human resource development, he added.

In his address, a copy of which was made available to the media here, Mr Kumaraswamy said a new infrastructure policy would be introduced soon giving greater emphasis to public-private partnerships in large infrastructure projects by floating global tenders.

He said the government had also taken up comprehensive infrastructure development in specific areas wherein high quality sector specific functional infrastructure was envisaged. Some of these were Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at Hassan, Coastal SEZ at Mangalore, Agro Food Processing Industrial Parks in five places--Malur, Bagalkot, Hiriyur, Jewargi and Maddur, two apparel Parks at Doddaballapur and Bellary and six Textile Parks and Industrial Clusters at Belgaum (Foundry) and Bangalore (Machine Tools). Mr Kumaraswamy said the investors had excellent opportunities in various sectors such as hotels, beach resorts, eco-friendly resorts, golf courses and adventure sports.
