Kolkata, Jun 8 (UNI) The Jammu and Kashmir Wildlife Protection Department has sought the help of the West Bengal Government to train their personnel in capturing wild animals creating havoc in the state.

Mr Subrata Pal Chowdhury, technical assistant, Wildlife, West Bengal, said he was in Jammu to train the staff, officers and veterinary doctors on the practical use of the equipment as well as other measures to curb the menace.

Recently there had been reports of black bears straying into Srinagar. Leopards were also straying into the villages of Jammu in search of food and some people had even been attacked by these wild animals.

Mr Pal Chowdhury said deforestation has been one of the reasons which forced the animals to enter the human habitat.

The West Bengal Government's help was wanted as it has been dealing with these kind of problems for a long time. Other states which sought help are Jharkhand, Tripura, Gujarat, Chattisgarh, and Orissa.
