Iraqi PM to make "very important announcement" - US

BAGHDAD, June 8 (Reuters) Iraqi Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki will make a ''very important announcement'' at a news conference in Baghdad due to start at 1300 hrs IST today, the US military said.

In a statement sent to the media, the press office of U.S.-led forces in Iraq said about Maliki's expected announcement, ''it is very significant news.'' It did not give further details and Maliki's office was not immediately available for comment.
