India fielding 48 players in world bridge championships
Chennai, Jun 8 (UNI)With 48 players in fray, India will have a significant presence in the 12th World Bridge Championships to be held at Verone in Italy from tomorrow.
According to the Bridge Federation of India, which is affiliated to World Bridge Federation, the Indian field includes K R Venkataraman, K Krishnakumar, Sumit Mukerjee, B D Das, S D Srkar, Raju Tolani, Archelius Sequira, Kalam Roy, Sunil Chokshi, Sunil Machar, Satyanarayana, Anil Dhah, Pritish Kushari and Akkineni Balarama.
The women players in fray includes Kiran Nadar, Jeroo Mango, Dr Usha Kothai, Himani Khandelwal, Kalpana Misra and Hema Deora.
The events include Open Pair, Ladies Pair, Mixed Pair, IMP Pairs, Senior Paris, Transnational Swiss Plate, Rosenblum, McConnel&Seniors Team event.
The world championship, which began in 1962 as World Pair Olympiad and is held every four years, in the even numbered non-leap years.
