Govt employees to strike work on Aug 10

New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) The Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh-affiliated Government Employees' National Confederation today said it has called an all-India strike by central government employees on August 10 to press for the setting up of the VIth Central Pay Commission.

BMS President Girish Awasthi said the decision was taken to highlight the ''anti-employee attitude of the Central government''.

Central government employees had postponed their plan to strike work from March one last following an assurance from the Prime Minister.

Though two months had passed, there was no government move to set up the new pay commission even as prices of essential commodities had risen sharply, he said.

Gate meetings, dharnas and other protest programmes would be carried out by employees between July 17-20, he added.
