New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) Over 10,000 awe-inspiring feats in 18 easy-to-understand-sections, describing the highest levels of human endurance and seemingly impossible achievements have been showcased in the all new 2006 edition of Limca Book of Records.

Unveiling the 17th edition of the Limca Book of Records here, President and CEO of Coca-Cola India Atul Singh today said, ''This is an important piece of history, a celebration of success among Indians and people of Indian origin in the world and recognition of our people around the world.'' ''This book goes beyond just paying tributes to Indians who have the drive to excel; it in fact inspires us to believe that nothing is impossible. This record book is clearly a succinct summarisation of India at her best,'' he added.

This year's five stalwarts who secured a place of pride in the latest edition of the book include Satish Gujral, Vijaypat Singhania and Dr V Shantha, Joshna Chinappa and J N Kaul.

Dr V Shantha is a Magsaysay award winner and Chairperson of Cancer Institute, Chennai and Joshna Chinnappa, the first Indian to win U-19 British Junior Squash title and the youngest national women's champion.

On the occasion, Mr Singh felicitated Dr Vijaypat Singhania, renowned industrialist and aviator and SOS Villages President J N Kaul.

Some of the record holders, who were presented with an Angvastram and a citation, include Commander Uday Sondhi, the only Indian to be allowed to fly a helicopter despite of having an artificial leg and Nishant Kasibhatia for memorising 200 binary numbers in just three minutes 21 seconds and recalling them in five minutes.

Mr Satish Gujral, world-renowned painter, sculptor, muralist, graphic designer and architect, could not attend the function because of his illness.

The latest Limca Book, edited by Vijaya Ghose, incorporates achievements across 18 buzzing fields like medicine, science, radio, television, entertainment and transportation, showcasing records made and broken across India.

The book was first launched in 1990 and is the second book of records in the world after Guinness Book of Records.
