CBI files chargesheet in Kiliroor sex scandal
Kochi, Jun 8 (UNI) The CBI today filed chargesheet against nine persons in the sensational Kiliroor sex scandal case before the Chief Judicial Magistrate, Ernakulam.
The investigating agency submitted that though it had conducted detailed investigation on the allegation of the then Opposition Leader V S Achuthandan, who is now the Chief Minister, about the involvement of a VIP, no such person could be found out.
However, Mr Achuthanandan revealed to the agency that the allegation was based on media reports and the complainant had no direct knowledge about the same.
CBI arraigned Omanakutty(47) of Kiliroor, KSRTC bus conductors Praveen(24), Manoj(31) and Prasanth(23) all belonging to Guruvayoor depot, Latha Nair(47) of Kalloopara, Binu alias Kochumon (30) of Nattakom, Somanathan(46), Thayil Venu from Kumali, Abdul Hameed(52) of Devikulam and V R Devadas, Thiruvarpu.
The incident related to the case was subjecting a minor girl, Sari S Nair, for sexual harassment by offering role in TV serials.
She later died in a hospital.
CBI investigation revealed that first accused Omanakutty introduced Sari to Latha Nair who pretended as a very rich and royal class lady and producer of serials. After their meeting on August 18, 2003, Omanakutty and Latha Nair took the victim Sari to Thekkady, Edappally, Guruvayoor and Palani and in all the places the other accused gangraped her.
When Sari complained about her predicament, Latha Nair brushed it aside by saying that all these were the requirements for becoming famous actress.
According to CBI, the diagnosis and treatment of Sari at a private hospital at Kottayam was proper and there was no negligence or lapse on the part of doctors who treated her.
Sari, who gave birth to a girl child earlier, breathed her last on November 13, 2004 at a private hospital in Kottayam and the case of death was due to intenstinal infection caused due to higher percentage of copper in the blood.
