Cabinet okays Rashtriya Ispat's Rs 869 cr expansion plan
New Delhi, June 8 (UNI) The Centre has given the go ahead to the Rs 869-crore expansion plan of the Rashtriya Ispat Nigam Ltd (RINL), Visakhpatnam, which proposes to double the plant's liquid steel capacity from the existing 3 million tonnes to 6.3 million tonnes by October 2008.
Following the Cabinet approval, the expansion is planned in two stages, a Ministry spokesman said here today.
In the first stage, the plant would produce 6.3 million tonnes of liquid steel per annum by October 2008. The second stage would facilitate the commissioning of Special Bar Mill and Light Structural Mill by October 2009, he added.
