BJP accuses Congress of "weakening" TRS

Hyderabad, June 8 (UNI) Alleging the Congress was ''weakening'' the fledgling Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS), which shares power with the former at the Centre, BJP National Secretary B Dattatreya today said his party would consider joining hands with the TRS if it quit the UPA.

Addressing a press conference here, he said the Congress party was encouraging defections from the TRS in an alleged effort to see its disintegration. He asked why the TRS was having truck with the Congress.

''Is it out of love for power. Is the TRS afraid of contesting the local body polls without alliance with the Congress'', he said.

There was no no scope for a third front at the Centre, he said citing the failure of the National Front and the United Front experiments as examples.

He dismissed as ''high drama'' the Marxists taking to streets in protest against the fuel price hike even while continuing support to the UPA Government.

Alleging the ''opportunistic'' Left parties were ''blackmailing'' both the Congress and the TDP for a better bargain in the coming local body elections, he said that the BJP would emerge as a strong force in the Panchayat polls.
