Surupsingh Naik back in Thane jail
Thane, Jun 7 (UNI) Former State Transport Minister Surupsingh Naik, who is undergoing a month's jail sentence for contempt of court and who had been admitted to a Mumbai hospital, returned to the Thane jail last evening.
Naik, who was the Forest Minister earlier, was sentenced to serve a month's jail term by the Supreme Court for violating its order of not allowing saw mills on forest land. Naik had surrendered before the police on May 12 and was lodged in the Thane jail.
However, after two days in jail, he complained of health problems following which he was taken to the Thane civil hospital and later shifted to JJ Hospital.
Naik underwent a number of tests at the hospital, including an angiography, and was discharged on Monday and brought back to the jail.
