Russia formin gives details on offer to Iran
MOSCOW, June 7 (Reuters) The six-power proposal on Iran's nuclear programme envisages Tehran suspending its uranium enrichment activities while the offer is being considered, Russia's foreign minister said today.
Under the offer, there would also be no UN Security Council discussion of a resolution on Iran while talks on the proposal were going on, RIA news agency quoted Sergei Lavrov as saying. He added Russia would only consider sanctions on Iran if the country was in breach of the non-proliferation treaty.
''For the duration of the negotiations both work on enrichment and discussion in the United Nations Security Council of any resolution that might be put forward on this issue are halted,'' RIA quoted him as saying.
