Road traffic, trains stopped by BJP as part of 'Chakka Jam'
Varanasi, Jun 7 (UNI) BJP activists today blocked road traffic at all major crossing here and stopped two long distance trains, as part of the nationwide two-hour ''Chakka Jam'' agitation over the petro product hike.
They blocked road traffic between 1100 and 1300 hrs at Lahurabir, Sunderpur, Lanka, Luxa, Maidagin, Godowlia, Sigra, Pandeypur and Englishia Line crossings Raising anti-UPA government slogans, the BJP activists stopped Mumbai bound Mahanagari Express and Farakka Express at the Varanasi Cantt railway station.
The saffron party workers also burnt the UPA government in effigy, demanding rollback of the price hike.
CPI (M-L) workers also burnt in effigy the UPA government outside the Varanasi Cantonment railway station over the same issue.
