PCC urges PM to reconsider fuel price hike

Written by: Staff

Kolkata, Jun 7 (UNI) West Bengal Pradesh Congress today urged Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to reconsider the hike in petrol and diesel prices.

''The oil prices were increasing in the international market after the Iraq war. We understand the Centre's compulsion but at the same time common people will suffer if the Centre does not rollback the recent hike,'' West Bengal Pradesh Congress Committee working president Pradip Bhattacharjee told newspersons.

He said Congress would send a letter to the Prime Minister and urge him to rollback the fuel prices in the interest of the common people.

''We are also welcoming AICC Chairperson Sonia Gandhi's statement showing concern about the hike,'' he added.
