Lalu demands medical board for Shahabuddin's health

Siwan, June 7 (UNI) Rashtriya Janata Dal(RJD) president Lalu Prasad today demanded constitution of a high-level medical board to examine the health of incarcerated party MP Mohammad Shahabuddin and provide necessary treatment for his health.

Talking to newspersons after an hour-long meeting, the Railway Minister said Mohammad Shahabuddin was suffering from 'slip disc' disorder and needed urgent treatment.

'' Since Siwan lacked proper facilities for treatment of such a serious disorder, steps are required to hire expertise from elsewhere to check the health of the MP in jail,'' he pointed out.

Expressing concern over the sufferings of his party colleague, Mr Prasad promised to take up the matter with the state government for an early action.

''My visit to the jail to meet the incarcerated MP should not be miscontrued as a political one. I simply considered it proper to meet Mohammad Shahabuddin on humanitarian ground as he is an elected member to Parliament on my party ticket,'' Mr Prasad maintained.
