Patna, Jun 7 (UNI) With the onset of monsoon, incessant rains in last 24 hours in Patna and other parts of the state gave the people some much needed relief, but threw life out of gear too.

Met office sources said normal to moderate rain was reported from different parts of the state. Monsoon has arrived in the state almost one week ahead of its normal schedule, sources said.

Gaya recorded maximum rains with 112.2 mm, while Patna and Bhagalpur witnessed 68.3 mm and 49.8 mm of rain respectively.

Met office predicted cloudy sky with few spells of thundershowers during the next 24 hours.

In state capital vehicular movements were below normal and people struggled to reach offices. Despite government claims of clearing the sewarage blockades before the monsoon to avoid water logging, several roads in low lying areas of Patna were inundated.

In other district towns, situation was no better.

Markets bore a deserted look. Some shop owners preferred to keep their business establishments closed, anticipating thin turn out of customers and low transactions.
