Incessant rains in Bihar as monsoon arrives a week in advance

New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) Incessant rains in Bihar threw normal life out of gear today while the mercury continued its upward trend in the entire northern part of the country.

Two people, including a child, were killed when lightning struck them at Bangarda village under Patamda police station in East Singhbhum district of Jharkhand yesterday, police said today.

Telephone lines in this steel city have been snapped due to advent of an early monsoon.

In Patna, vehicular movement was below normal and people struggled to reach their destination on time despite the state government claims of clearing the sewarage blockades before the monsoon to avoid water logging.

A 22-year-old youth was killed as torrential rains lashed Kheda and Anand districts of Gujarat last evening.

A feeble low pressure area over Gangetic West Bengal and adjoining northwest Bay has been forming for the last two days.

The Bay of Bengal branch of monsoon has further advanced and covered entire West Bengal and Sikkim, Jharkhand and Bihar, most parts of Orissa, and some parts of Chhattisgarh.

Met office has predicted maximum relative humidity of around 94 per cent and a minimum of 64 per cent in West Bengal.
