New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) The Delhi High Court has directed the Registrar Cooperative Societies (RCS) to conduct the election of the managing committee of the Rafi Ahmed Kidwai Group Housing Cooperative Society of Dwarka in the Capital as it was not being held for the past nine years.

A division bench of Justices M K Sharma and Reva Khetrapal asked the RCS to start the process of the election within a week by appointing a returning officer.

The Court also appointed Advocate Manisha Dhir as the court commissioner to supervise the election of the society.

The residents of the housing society had formed an association called Happy Home Residents Welfare Association and took over the management of the society alleging that the management had indulged in corrupt practices without holding election for the past 9 years.

The Association had started collecting the maintenance money and managed the day-to-day affairs of the society.

The Association had also filed a complaint with the RCS to look into the allegations.

The RCS was directed to look into the allegations by hearing both the warring parties on a day-to-day basis.

The Society management had filed the petition seeking direction to restrict the Association from taking over the management of the society.
