Ex-convict hacked to death with swords in broad daylight

Panaji, June 7 (UNI) A massive manhunt is on to apprehend a four-member gang headed by an ex-convict, Asphak Dengra, who allegedly hacked another ex-convict and history-sheeter - Jochim Pereira - to death near Chimbel under the Old Goa police limits in broad daylight today.

The assailants riding a car chased and sliced the victim to death with swords as the latter was was on his way to Chimbel from Merces, at about 1000 hrs. Gang rivalry is suspected to have been the cause of the incident, according to initial police reports.

The body of the victim, with eight injuries on his head and stomach, has been sent for postmortem, according to Inspector of Police Viswas Karte.
