Councillors to meet Lt Gov on DDA land to MCD in Tehkhand
New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) Municipal Corporation of Delhi Councillors will soon meet Lt Governor B L Joshi to seek his intervention on the issue of the Delhi Development Authority auctioning the nearly 32- acre land allocated by it to the MCD for relocation of JJ clusters.
A decision in this regard was taken at a meeting of the Standing Committee of the MCD after a report by the Commissioner on the issue, refuted claims by the DDA that in lieu of the land at Tehkhand, the MCD had been alloted land in Molarband and Rohini.
The commissioner's report also submitted that DDA owed an amount of Rs 4287.69 crores to the MCD's Slum and JJ Department for utilising 807.69 acres of the land belonging to it.
The issues was raised in the meeting by BJP MCD member Vijender Gupta, who stated that the issue was important and required immediate attention of the MCD.
Mr Gupta's views were endorsed by several members, cutting across party lines.
It was decided that a delegation of councillors, led by Standing Committee chairman Jai Kishen Sharma and including Leader of the House Jitender Kochar, Leader of the Opposition in the MCD Subhash Arya, Mr Vijender Gupta, among others, would soon meet the Lt Governor on the issue and urge him to intervene in the matter.
