Ad hoc licenses of traders to be renewed in day or two: MCD
New Delhi, June 7 (UNI) The ad-hoc licenses of Delhi traders which were kept in abeyance due to the sealing and demolition drive will be renewed in a day or two, the Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) today said.
A statement in this regard was made by MCD Commissioner A K Nigam in a meeting of the MCD Standing Committee.
The statement came after several members including Leader of the House Jitender Kochar, Congress Member Sanjay Puri and others demanded to know why the ad-hoc licenses of the traders had not been renewed even though the sealing and demolition drive had been put on hold for one year.
Congress member Sanjay Puri said the non-renewal of the licenses of the traders was leading to their unnecessary ''challaning'' by inspectors and adding to corruption.
On this, the standing Committee chairman Jai Kishen Sharma asked the Commissioner to make a statement on the issue.
The Commissioner stated that the licenses of the traders would be renewed in a day or two.
Earlier, on Saturday, the Commissioner, during a meeting convened by Union Urban Development Minister Jaipal Reddy, had assured traders that the ad-hoc licenses would start renewing soon.
