YSR to lay foundation stone for FabCity Project Jun 7

Hyderabad, Jun 6 (UNI) Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy will lay the foundation stone for the prestigous multi-billiion dollar Fab City Project to be set up at Tukkuguda, near the new international airport, here tomorrow.

Union Minister for Communications and Information Technology Dayanidhi Maran will preside.

The state government and SemiIndia had signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on February 16 this year for setting up the project.

SemIndia's advanced semi-conductor plant, forming part of the Fab City Project, will alone cost three billion USD.

In November last, SemIndia entered into a broad-based agreement with Advanced Micro Devices(AMD), the world's second largest manufacturer of processors, for several partnership initiatives, including marketing and sales.

SemIndia President and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vinod K Agarwal thanked the Chief Minister for his commitment to the project and said the company looked forward to continued support from the government to make the facility a global hub for semi-conductor and electronics manfacturing.
