Two in fray for Rajya Sabha elections from J
Srinagar, Jun 6 (UNI) Senior Jammu and Kashmir Congress leader Choudhary Mohammad Aslam and National Conference (NC) candidate Mohammad Yousuf Taing were left in the fray for the elections to the Rajya Sabha seat from the state on June 15.
The nomination of independent candidate Mohammad Hussain Parray were rejected after his papers were found invalid.
The scrutiny of papers was taken up today while the last date of withdrawal of nominations is on June 8.
The seat fell vacant following the resignation of Chief Minister Ghulam Nabi Azad who was elected to the state Assembly.
All the three candidates had filed their papers yesterday.
Choudhary Aslam had emerged as the consensus candidate of both the Congress and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), the ruling coalition partners in the state.
