Swimming pool license suspended for flouting safety, hygiene norm

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) The Delhi Police have suspended the license of a swimming pool in a Kendriya Vidyalaya school in South Delhi's R K Puram area for its failure to abide by the stipulated norms of hygiene as well as safety which led to the death of a man in the pool on June 1.

An FIR under section 304A of the IPC has also been registered against the licensee, Deputy Commissioner of Police Licensing, Arun Kampani said.

Proceedings of cancellation of the license were also underway, the police said.

The Delhi police's licensing branch had issued detailed instructions to all the swimming pools in Delhi to abide by the norms of safety and hygiene as per the regulations for ''The Union Territory of Delhi of Swimming pools (Licensing and Controlling) regulations, 1980''.

The police have said the public should be careful before enrolling as a member of a swimming pool and check whether it is licensed or otherwise.
