Summer on way for German World Cup
MUNICH, June 6 (Reuters) Warmer weather is on the way for the World Cup finals after a shivering start to June, one of Germany's leading meteorologists said today.
It was likely to be dry in Munich on Friday when hosts Germany play Costa Rica in the opening match, ARD TV weather forecaster Joerg Kachelmann told Reuters today.
Kachelmann predicted a temperature of 22 Celsius (72 Fahrenheit) at kickoff in Munich, dipping to 19 C at the final whistle.
A high pressure system moving to Germany from Britain should bring warmer weather for next week -- up to 28C with little or no humidity during the day but with cool nights.
''The summer is now being imported from Britain,'' he said.
Many World Cup teams, especially those based in southern Germany, have struggled with freezing temperatures and even snow in the last two weeks.
