Sloth bear dies of heart attack at Sakkarbaug Zoo in Junagadh in Guj
Junagadh, Gujarat, Jun 6 (UNI) A 20-year-old sloth-bear died of a massive heart attack at Sakkarbaug Zoo here, Zoo Superintendent R D Katara, said here today.
Mr Katara told UNI that the sloth bear 'Jackie' died following a massive heart-attack late last eveing.
'Jackie' was brought here when he was three years old in 1989 from Nandankanan Zoological Park at Bhubaneshwar in Orissa, Mr Katra said.
During the postmortem it was found that Jackie had problems in the valves in his heart which ultimately caused the massive heart-attack, he added.
Incidentally, according to the latest wildlife census conducted in Gujarat, the forests in Saurashtra region does not have a single bear.
