Sainik Farms: SC grants bail to MCD Junior Engineer
New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) The Supreme Court has granted bail to a junior engineer, MCD, sentenced to one month's simple imprisonment by Delhi high court for filing false and misleading affidavit in the court with regard to demolition of unauthorised constructions in Mehrauli Sainik farm houses.
A vacation bench comprising Justices Arijit Pasayat and C.K.
Thakker on June 5 suspended the sentence of the petitioner U.S.
Chauhan and ordered his release on furnishing bail bond for Rs.
30000 along with a surety of the same amount.
Earlier, Chauhan was directed to surrender by the apex court and his petition was entertained by the court on Monday after his counsel filed proof of surrender in the court.
Last month another junior engineer, MCD, R.S. Seharawat also awarded same sentence in this case was released on bail by the apex court.
Both the convicts had deliberately and intentionally filed misleading affidavits in the high court to shield some farm house owners who had carried out illegal constructions in their farm houses in South Delhi.
Sainik farm houses and Ananat Ram dairy in R.K.Puram have been excluded from one year's moratorium against demolition of unauthorised constructions in Delhi under the Delhi Laws (Special Provisions) Act, 2006.
