Rejected vehicles to get insurance cover

Kolkata, June 6 (UNI) A pool insurance plan for rejected vehicles is expected to be finalised in the next few months.

'' Talks are going on for launching a pool insurance involving all insurance companies for such vehicles. We expect it to be firmed up in a few months,'' National Insurance Company Chairman and Managing Director Bimalendu Chakraborty today said.

Speaking at an Insurance Conclave, organised by FICCI-Eastern Regional Council, Mr Chakraborty said so far there was no third party liability for rejected cars, trucks and other vehicles. The proposed scheme, once launched, would address a niche market.

At present talks were on for fixing the premium rates for the policy, he said.

Oriental Insurance Company Chairman and Managing Director M Ramadoss said his company would detariff the rates in fire insurance from January next year.
