Police to seek Rahul's discharge from hospital

New Delhi, June 6 (UNI) Delhi Police, which arrested late BJP leader Pramod Mahajan's son Rahul last evening, will seek permission of doctors at Apollo Hospital to get him discharged and produce him before a magistrate to secure his police custody today.

A police team had already reached Apollo in this connection, Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (New Delhi) Manish Agarwal said.

In case the doctors rule that Rahul was unfit to be discharged, a magistrate would be requested to come down to the hospital to allow the police his custody. He may then even be taken to a government hospital, he added.

Yesterday, Mr Agarwal had said the police had enough evidence against Rahul to arrest him.

He had been charged under the NDPS Act for buying, possessing and consuming drugs while the servants and the staff at Pramod Mahajan's residence in Central Delhi, where Rahul, Mahajan senior's Secretary Bibek Moitra and four others partied sipping champagne and sniffing heroine late on June 1, were charged with destruction of evidence as they 'disturbed' the scene of crime.

Meanwhile, the police was also inspecting Apollo records and quizzing hospital doctors in connection with the case.
