Raipur, June 6 (UNI) Bharatiya Janshakti president Uma Bharti today said the recent developments in Nepal could result in a spurt in Naxalite activities in India.

Soon after restoration of democracy, the United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government should have extended help to Nepal to fight Maoists, she told a news conference here.

''There was no need to declare the Himalayan Kingdom as a secular nation'', she said adding, it would give a boost to fundamentalists and insurgent groups in Nepal.

She said Maoists' latest aim was to establish their rule from ''Pashupati to Tirupati'', through the Uttaranchal route. The Maoists would not succeed in their plans, she added.

Referring to Naxalite problem, she said it could not be treated as a mere law and order problem but concrete steps were required to check exploitation and injustice in the affected areas.
