MP Govt isuued notice over reservation in teachers's recruitment
Jabalpur, June 6 (UNI) The Madhya Pradesh High Court has issued notice to the state government over a petition challenging reservation in recruitment of teachers on contract basis in block panchayats.
Hearing petitions filed by Kundum block panchayat vice-president Ajay Tripathi and three others, Justice Shantanu Sharad Kemkar asked the government to reply within three weeks.
The petitioner told the court that the Madhya Pradesh Panchayat Samvida Shala Shikshak Adhiniyam, 2005, was different from its original Act of 1993.
The new Act provided for more than 50 per cent reservation, which was against the spirit of the Constitution.
Petitioner's counsel Vivek Rusia said the new Act provided for 50 per cent reservation for women, six per cent for physically challenged people and 10 per cent for ex-armymen in each category.
The provision was inappropriate as well as impractical, he added.
The petitioner demanded that the new Act be declared against the spirit of the Constitution and be abrogated. Besides, the recruitment process that had begun on the basis of the new Act be ended.
