Militant among 2 killed, major tragedy averted in J and K
Srinagar, Jun 6 (UNI) Security forces killed a militant and also averted a major tragedy while ultras killed one person and caused a blast in the Jammu and Kashmir overnight, official spokesman said.
He said security forces gunned down a militant in an encounter at Dangerpora in Baramulla district of North Kashmir today. One civilian was also injured in the shootout, he said adding the encounter ensued after a search party was attacked by the militants.
Militants killed one Nazir Ahmad Wani in his Sanerwani house in Pulwama district last night.
A blast took place near a school at Rajbagh late last night damaging window panes of nearby houses. However, no one was injured.
Security forces today averted a major tragedy when they detected and later defused an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) planted by militants at Gool in Udhampur district of Jammu region.
Jammu and Kashmir police recovered 54 detonators, 12 gelatin sticks, 28 electric detonators and eight rounds of ammunition at Doda. Three persons were also taken into custody.
